 !!!! UPDATE !!!

For those of you on the South leg of the drive you MG day one group will be heading out to the DCTC’s Decision Driving Range.

Plan on leaving from Ze’s Diner in Prior Lake at 9:00am.

Ze’s is open at 7a for those of you that like to start the day with breakfast. Our route will take us mostly East then North. We should arrive about 9:45ish to have a small car show before we watch the driving instruction.  For those interested we are being allowed on the track when they break for lunch. Afterwords join us for lunch and refreshments at the Eagan Arms Public House. We are planning on a 1-1:30 arrival for lunch.

Ze's Diner Prior Lake, 16731 State Hwy 13, Prior Lake, MN 55372

Gary Curtis Driving Experience is kicking off the season and we are invited through Alejandro Sanchez of the Minnesota T register and BIR Performance Driving School instructor, to participate in an informal car show on Saturday, May 7th. One or two other clubs are also being invited. At noon we would be allowed to do parade laps around the track, as they did last September.

There is a cost to sign up for the driving instruction but the noon parade lap will be free.

And even if you cannot make this event this is a reminder to take out your LBC and find a road you like. Show it off and for bonus points call some other members in your area to meet for a coffee, ice cream, or refreshment.

If you have questions here are some answers.

Performance Driving School (PDS) – This event lasts all day long. A driver gets 7 sessions of 20 minutes each driving around the track. There is classroom in the beginning, and the participant gets paired with a part-time instructor. There are three running groups: Novice, Intermediate and Advanced. It is important to register online ahead of time. This is the event for which there is a $325 charge. It requires bringing a helmet. Convertibles are allowed to participate in the PDS only if they have a permanently attached roll bar/cage or have automatically deployable rollover protective bars.

Car Show – There is no charge to be part of the car show. Cars should arrive between 10 and 11 am. At noon the track goes cold and then is when any of those cars can go on a lead and follow fashion around the track; no helmets are needed for this.

Food and Beverages – There is no plan for the club to provide any of that. Having a food truck available will depend on the number of participants. For now, participants should plan on bringing their own or go to one of many restaurants that are close by. Sorry, no alcoholic beverages are allowed at any time during the event. For those participating in the car show only, if we get a head count, we can make a reservation for after the parade laps at a nearby restaurant, returning to the track after lunch.

Loos – There are two porta potties by the paddock area; there are regular toilets in the classroom building, which is located about 400 yards from the paddock.

SUV Ride – This is not decided yet, there may be ride alongs for two laps at full speed on a squad SUV driven by one of the instructors. The cost per person will be $20 (no cost to those participating in the PDS). No helmets required.

High Performance Ride – Also to be decided at this point. There may be ride alongs for four hot laps on a high performance vehicle, such as a Porsche, Corvette, Alfa Romeo, Camaro being driven by one of the instructors. The cost per person will be around $150. A helmet is required. There may be a very limited number of helmets that can be borrowed, preferably bring your own.
